Shaky start to Samwu meeting over delegates' credentials

The much-anticipated Samwu PEC meeting this morning got off to a shaky start.

This after PEC delegates to the meeting disagreed on the credentials of those that should attend the meeting. The two factions are divided over the expulsion of provincial chair, Mzwandile Toyise.

His expulsion and that of six other Samwu members is among issues that are to be discussed at the meeting.

A PEC member told the Daily Dispatch that the current provincial leadership does not enjoy support in regions hence they also disbanded the Amathole region. "This is a game of numbers. Their comrades do not have numbers leading up to the CEC,  so now they are tryng to deal with us."

The trade union will be convening a CEC in the Free State, where issues of members accused of fraud, among others, are expected to be discussed.
