Feast of events comes to town

From theatre comedy shows to dance events, this week’s list of cool things happening has it all for you.

Robin’s in town

SINGER-songwriter, guitarist, poet and writer Robin Auld will be performing at Legends Showcase Venue this Friday from 8pm. Tickets for the event cost R100 and are available at Lee Gold Music.

‘Defending the Caveman’

THE longest-running solo comedy show in the country, Defending the Caveman is currently showing at the Guild Theatre until May 21. Tickets for the event range from R130 to R150 per person and are available from Computicket and at the Guild Theatre. For more details, contact

Charity day

BIGEN Africa and Gonubie Round Table Charity Golf Day takes place this Friday from 9.30am. Shotgun start at 10.35am, registration from 9.30am to 10.30am. All proceeds in aid of Vanani Farm School to install sufficient water and sanitation system. For more details, contact (043)-748-6230.

Logos Hope

THE largest floating book fair in the world, Logos Hope, will be visiting East London bringing knowledge, help and hope. The book fair runs from May 20 until May 30 at the East London Harbour. Entry is R5 with free entry for children under 12. For more details, contact 072-917-1394.

Museum Day

JOIN the public at the East London Museum Day this Saturday from 9am. The NSRI and the Caledonian Society Pipe Band will there and there is free entrance to the Museum. The Coelacanth Café will be open and there will be a variety of stalls. For more details, contact 043-743-0686.

Lumo dog walk

THE SPCA Lumo Dog Walk 5km at Gonubie Sports Club is taking place this Saturday from 4.30pm. Entry is R50 per person, one dog per person. Register at the SPCA and at the Gonubie Sports Club from 5pm – 7pm today and tomorrow.

Wine, dine and dance

WINE, dine and dance with great food and live music by Quentin at the Comrades Bowling Club this Friday from 8.15pm till late. Entry is R10.

Country dance

CATCH the country dance at East London Bowling Club on Saturday night from 8pm till late. Live music by Patrick and Shannon. Entry is R25.

French movie

IT’S the Alliance Française of East London’s French movie evening at the Nahoon Mouth Bowling Club on Friday from 6.30pm. The movie Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (Amélie) will be shown with English subtitles. Amélie is a comedy about a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world of her own making. Tickets cost R20 for non-members. Cash Bar available.
