ATMs at filling station near Libode bombed

Two ATMs were bombed in a filling station in Ntlaza near Libode during the early of hours of the morning.

Mthatha police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the incident is believed to have taken place around 3am.

"It seems the bombers used commercial explosives to blow up the ATMs," he said.

A cap and two 9mm pistol spent catridges were also found near the scene.

When the Daily Dispatch visited the crime scene around 9am, police experts were still combing the area for clues.

By noon, Fatyela was unable to say whether any money had been taken during the bombing.

"We have called in the locksmith to try and open the safe as it is not clear if there was anything taken so far," he added.
