Amalinda residents take it on themselves to fight fire

Residents in Amalinda had to use their own hose pipes and buckets of water to put out a veld fire that threatened at least three families.

Kelly Place Complex residents in Saxilby claimed last night they had to put out the fire on their own while they waited for the Buffalo City Metro (BCM) firefighters.

They claimed that the BCM fire department took about an hour to respond to their calls for help.

While no one was injured, the fire put the metro’s fire fighting capabilities and response time to question.
