A peace agreement was finally signed on Tuesday by the feuding taxi bosses in the OR Tambo region.
Facilitated by department of transport MEC Weziwe Tikana, who said the contents of the agreement would be closely monitored by members of both associations, law enforcement and the department.
She also said there would be severe punishment for those who do not
comply.
Both Uncedo Service Taxi Association (Usta) and Border Alliance Taxi Association (Bata) national leaders believe that the agreement will be respected by all their members and put an end to the taxi violence that has already claimed 30 lives.
