Thandiwe Tokwe, 46, from Nompumelelo township is the second lucky winner of the Daily Dispatch Festive Shopping Spree competition this year.

She walked away with a R10000 cash prize yesterday morning.

Tokwe, who only entered the competition once, said she was overwhelmed with joy at the unexpected windfall. The lucky winner said she received a call on Monday afternoon and was astonished to hear it was the Daily Dispatch.

“I had just returned from a community meeting and noticed a missed call on my phone.

“It rang again and I was surprised to find out it was Dispatch. After they said I had won, everything was a blur and I don’t even remember what they said afterwards.

“This voucher couldn’t have come at a better time. I am really overwhelmed with joy,” she said.

Tokwe said she would spend her voucher on festive groceries for her family, including her mother, who is in the rural areas, and was also planning on fixing her mom’s home. The mother of two, who looks after her late sister’s child as well, said the cash would also come in handy for school items for next year.

Daily Dispatch acting marketing manager Penelope Smith said in all the Dispatch was giving away R60000 over the festive season.

These cash prizes are split into three R10000 prizes given out each week and would end with a R30000 grand cash prize.

The next R10000 cash prize will be drawn on December 11.

D-Day for the final R30000 grand prize is December 19.
