Call to donate blood on Human Rights Day

All it takes is 10 minutes in a comfortable easy chair to save someone’s life. This is the message from the South African National Blood Service which is trying to collect 4 500 units of blood countrywide on Human Rights Day today.

Potential donors in East London and Mthatha have  a few hours left  today to donate a unit of their life-saving blood at four collection centres.

Spokesperson Rene Vice said the target for the region today was 120 units across the four centres.

By 11am today just 18 units had been collected.

Donors can give blood at the following centres until 4pm today:

-          Berea Donor Centre, 25 Pearce Street,

-          Beacon Bay Donor Centre, Beacon Bay Crossing opposite Virgin Active,

-          Mdantsane City Mall, in the bus,

-          Mthatha Plaza, bus in Western parking area near BT Ngebs Mall gate.
