EFF opened case for fraud against councillor

An Economic Freedom Fighters branch in Scenery Park has opened a case for fraud against former BCM councillor Vuyani Holiday today  for allegedly collecting R100 000 for rent obtained from small businesses in a community centre.

Branch deputy chairman Andile Fazi said Holiday misused resources meant for community development for his own personal benefit.

It is alleged Holiday collected rent ranging from R300-R350 since 2007 until 2017 from businesses that operated in the centre.

Holiday laughed off these allegations and said the monies were used for security purposes.

“They are bluffing. I collected the money for security reasons in the building. Had there been no security they (EFF) would have vandalised them. They are just playing politics,” he said.

The centre was donated to the community in 2002 by a construction company and has been used for administrative use when needed.
