Car crashes into old-age home wall in EL

Elderly people at the Kennersley Park Frail Care were left devastated when a Double Cab bakkie collided with a car and swerved into the old-age home's wall this morning.

Maintenance worker at the old-age home, Luyanda Rasmeni, said he had just passed a speed hump next to the centre until a speeding Isuzu Cab bumped into the back of his Ford Laser then  into the wall.

"I could see from the rearview mirror that he was speeding. He bumped into me and then I hit two sidewalk poles," said Rasmeni.

Active Towing services worker, Gavin Green said the driver did not seem drunk.

"He just said he lost his brakes. He didn’t seem drunk. Luckily there were no people on the sidewalk or inside the premises," he said.

An elderly couple that lives at the centre next to the affected wall said they were shocked but happy that no injuries were sustained.
