Former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama has been sharing moments from her upcoming memoir‚ Becoming‚ on her social media platforms ahead of the book's release in November this year.
On Instagram Michelle posted a picture of herself at Princeton in the early 1980s. She said she had never stood out in a crowd or classroom because of the colour of her skin.
"I know that being a first-generation college student can be scary‚ because it was scary for me. I was black and from a working-class neighborhood in Chicago‚ while Princeton’s student body was generally white and well-to-do."
She said it was through the help of a mentor and friends that she found the confidence to be herself.
