Ramaphosa visited the king on Tuesday at Nqadu Great Place near Willowvale, in the Eastern Cape.

Sigcawu said: “We are very worried about the incarceration of Zwelibanzi (king Dalindyebo). Our hearts are bleeding. Please release Zwelibanzi now.”

ANC chairman Gwede Mantashe also spoke of the release of Dalindyebo. “It affects us all. The leaders must look at the release of the king.”

Ramaphosa did not address the issue of Dalindyebo’s release.

Ramaphosa and  Mantashe had earlier visited this royal burial site to pay respest to the late king Xolilizwe Sigcawu, who died in 2005, and  Xolilizwe’s father, King Zwelidumile Sigcawu.

After the meeting, Ramaphosa and the king were joined by the other ANC leaders and some traditional leaders.

In the morning, the ANC top brass – Ramaphosa‚ party deputy president David Mabuza‚ national chairman Gwede Mantashe‚ secretary-general Ace Magashule as well as treasurer general Paul Mashile – laid a wreath at the grave site of Rubusana, the founding member the ANC’s Buffalo City region is now named after. This happened in East London before their visit to Sigcawu.

  1. I wish the AnC President, Mr Cyril Matamela Ramaposa success in making South Afrca abetter country when he takes over as Preident of South Africa and indeed the King of Abathembu must now be pardoned and released.

  2. It is a disgrace for the king arrested in the democratic African countries like the King Dalinyebo of AbaThembu. Really our current president himself was milsed by those who’re misliding him since became the leader of the country. I would like to say that Zuma’s repercussions will follow him wherever he goes and the prison thts where he goes no matter what with those who’re protecting him big time

    • The court found Dalindyebo guilty of the charges levelled against him… There is no Zuma Court in RSA…….people need to understand what Dalindyebo did was wrong and unlawful.. therefore the law must take its course…..RSA is not a Monarch country

Have your say
