The ANC has instructed its caucus in parliament to file a no confidence motion against President Zuma on Thursday.

Treasurer General Paul Mashatile communicated this decision to the caucus at midday on Wednesday, saying: "We can no longer keep South Africa waiting. If President Zuma at some point responds, but we can't continue waiting.

The decision has been taken and it must be implemented. So my message to the causus today was just that they must proceed with parliamentary processes,"said Mashatile.

He was refering to the national executive committee decision on Tuesday to recall Zuma and that he submits letter of resignation as State President by end of business on Wednesday.

But when Zuma's office had not indicated whether he would resign or not by midday, Mashatile met ANC deployees in parliament, and informed that they would have no choice but vote Zuma out on Thursday

Addressing a press briefing yesterday Mashatile said: "The ANC has decided to recall comrade Jacob Zuma and the deadline is today. We have asked the chief whip (Jackson Mthembu) to proceed with the vote of no confidence in parliament.

"If the presiding officers can can feature that in so that President Zuma is then removed,so that we can proceed to elect President Ramaphosa as the President of the republic," he said.

He said it was critical that the ANC moved with speed and elected Ramaphosa into office as state president "so that he can deliver the state of the nation address, possibly before the budget speech next Wednesday.'

" It's clear for us as the leadership of the ANC that we can no longer wait beyond today,"Mashatile added
