POLICE are investigating a case of murder after a 25-year-old man was attacked and later murdered, allegedly by a group of pupils from a historic Blythswood school in Ngqamakhwe. The incident happened on Friday.

Butterworth police spokesman, Captain Jackson Manatha confirmed the incident this afternoon. “We can confirm that a man who was cutting wood near the school was attacked and murdered, allegedly by a group of pupils from this school,” said Manatha.

Manatha said this left the community angry. “The angry community went to the school but a swift response from the police managed to arrive on time to rescue the situation. Pupils have since been removed by parents from the school,” said Manatha.

It is not clear if the pupils will be back at school on Monday, as many school are busy with first term exams. “There's a proposed meeting with the parents and the school and the police will be there to monitor the situation,” said Manatha.
