BCM salon support hits a glitch

Not enough local content was among the reasons cited by Buffalo City Metro that 15 stylists did not receive the R200 000 worth of salon equipment they were promised.

The equipment was to have been handed over last year as part of a BCM mentorship programme. The metro, together with the small enterprise development agency  (Seda),  hosted the programme facilitated by E-Studio Glam to help budding hairstylists professionalise their businesses.

BCM business development manager Xolelwa Majiza said when they tried to procure the equipment they found they could not comply with the state’s local content requirements.

Another hurdle was finding enough money.
