The sentencing of former Cambridge High School assistant bursar Merle Laity who was meant to be sentenced this morning for theft and fraud involving more than R2-million she stole from the school, was this morning delayed until August 24.

This after her legal team asked court for a postponement in order to be able to submit a number of reports that could be used in mitigation of her sentence.

Laity has already been found guilty of eight counts of theft and one of fraud and was meant to know her fate this morning.

However her legal team asked court that they be allowed to submit a medical report on the state of her health, a psychologist report, and a private social worker's report in a bid to influence court in its sentencing.
