ANC top six meeting underway in Pretoria

The ANC top six meeting has begun behind closed doors at the Pretoria residence of President Jacob Zuma in Pretoria, eNCA has reported.

ANC secretary general, Gwede Mantashe, said yesterday that the top six would meet to discuss the ruling of the Constitutional Court that Zuma and parliament failed to uphold the constitution.

The top-six may convene and ANC NEC meeting to discuss how to deal with the court's findings.

The court found that the "remedial action" recommended by public protector, Thuli Madonsela, regarding construction at Zuma's private residence at Nkandla, was binding and that Zuma would have to pay back a portion of the money spent based on a determination by the treasury.

The top six consists of Zuma, ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa, Mantashe, chair Baleka Mbete, treasurer Zweli Mkhize and Mantashe's deputy, Jessie Duarte.
