Lottering laughs

MARC Lottering brings his My Favourite Stories show to the Venue@Hemingways next week Saturday. Tickets for the show cost R120 and are available from Computicket.

Going Wilde

THE Guild Theatre presents a play-reading of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of being Earnest tonight (Thursday) at 7pm. This comedy is directed by Pieter Taljaard (Gonubie Passion Play). The cast includes local actors Amanda Bothma, Marcel Corson and Charne van den Berg. This event forms part of the Show Must Go On! fundraising campaign to make the Guild Theatre energy efficient. Tickets, in the form of a R50 donation, at the door.

Comedy act

COMEDY duo Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert perform The 7 Deadly Sins at the Alexander Playhouse in Cambridge until Sunday. McIlroy, known as for his role of Mr Milton in the Spud movies, won a best actor in a comedy, Durban Theatre award in 2014 for his performance in 7 Deadly Sins last year. Bookings through Lee Gold Music on (043) 735-1586. Tickets for allshows are R155, which includes dinner, patrons bring drinks and snacks.

Tickets for Sunday are R125 (no meals, patrons bring their own refreshments). Show starts at 8pm, (doors open at 7pm), except on Sunday – show starts at 6pm, doors open at 5pm.

Jazzy sounds

TOWNSHIP Connexion jazz band will be performing at Mdantsane Sun Casino on Sunday from 3pm. The event will feature Blondie Lens (trombone) Claude Gawe (saxophone), Zwayi (bass guitar) and Joe (drums). Free entry.

Post Modern invasion

BARRY Gibb lectures on Post Modernism with a focus on architecture at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery at 7pm tonight. Entry is R40 per person.

Student party
