Dispatch falls under spell (Video & Competition)

ANDRÉ The Hilarious Hypnotist certainly converted a few non-believers yesterday – and had Daily Dispatch staffers in stitches.

The popular entertainer hosted a special show at the Dispatch, where staff members fell under his spell and were made to perform hilarious acts – from acting like award-winning musicians to riding horses.

Ncokazi said she had fun when deep under André’s hypnosis.

“It felt a bit weird because all I could hear was Andre’s voice but it wasn’t scary,” she said.

Ncokazi said she was glad she made her colleagues laugh for a while.

She remembered some of the things she did during her hypnosis, she said.

Another reporter who later went under Andre’s hypnosis was Siya Boya. Boya, who could not remember anything afterwards, was a goldfish, jockey and driver.

André is best known for his ability to make people jump around on stage at the snap of his fingers.

He makes volunteers forget their names, impersonate animals and perform other antics to get an audience laughing.

For the past 21 years Andre has hypnotised people from all over the country, bordering countries and as far afield as Australia.

“Twenty-one years later I still love this, I love being on stage and the attention I get. I also love making stars of people,” he said.

He said people should expect to see a bunch of new and old stuff.

“It will be anything from a lion to a dragon to a dinosaur.

“It’s a mixture of things and it’s safe. Anyone can come and watch. Nobody gets drugged or gets dragged against their free will,” he said.

Tickets cost between R70 and R80. The show starts at 7pm. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
