Khune: Our performance was unacceptable

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says that their performance against Orlando Pirates was unacceptable.

Amakhosi suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Buccaneers at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, October 31.

Goals from Ayanda Gcaba, Issa Sarr and Thamsanqa Gabuza cancelled out Eric Mathoho’s equaliser and were enough to see off the current Absa Premiership holders.

However, the Glamour boys performance as a whole was something Khune was not proud of.

“We didn’t do well,” reflects Khune on Kaizer Chiefs website.

“We know that performance was unacceptable. I just want to tell to our supporters, ‘please, come out again in force for the Golden Arrows match on Tuesday evening.”

Chiefs take on Abafana Bes'thende in a midweek PSL encounter at the same venue.

The goalkeeper appreciates how the Amakhosi fans dominated the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

“They always bring their passion and that rubs off on us as players,” said Khune.

“We want to apologise for what happened against Orlando Pirates. However, we now have to look forward.”

Amakhosi host Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, November 3 with the kick-off at 19:30.

“Arrows have been doing well. They are quick on the transition and they play a bit like us. We just have to match them,” said Khune.
