A country in flames

THE country is in flames and the politicians keep on saying everything is under control. It is the first time in the history of our democracy that the will of the people is suppressed and they are disclaimed by their movement.

I foresaw this coming – that comrades will turn on comrades and human life will be disrespected. The space is getting smaller and the resources becoming scarce. Fuel prices are ballooning, resulting in an increase in the cost of living.

People are keen to employ desperate measures fuelled by careless utterances by leaders both in ruling and opposition parties. If these list conflicts were acted upon at their manifestation I’m sure things would have been different. It is now in Tswane that an ace maker is brought in. Why wasn’t it done with ward councillors?

In conclusion, I love my country and I hate to see it being destroyed like what is happening now. A plea to my fellow country men and women – let’s sit back and relax a bit and show our anger at the ballot box on August 3. If there is someone out there in a similar vein as the Biblical Jona, this is the right time for him or her to save this sinking ship.
