ANC NEC member Lindiwe Sisulu has today publicly accepted calls to avail herself for the governing party’s top job.
This as lobbying ahead of the ANC elective conference in December picks up.
Sisulu was addressing hundreds of party supporters and members at the East London ICC, at an event organised by some members of the ANCWL.
It is here that she gave the calls a nod saying she was ready to rise to the top post promising to fight corruption among her priorities.
“Guard against factionalism and tribalism my comrades, for these are destructive forces. If you agree, I therefore accept my nomination (for ANC presidency),” she said to loud applause and ululations.
Also, Sisulu listed bringing back those who’ve left the ANC and opening up opportunities for the youth among her prioritise.
Among those who attended were Fees Must Fall leader Mcebo Dlamini and party members from about five provinces including KwaZulu Natal, North West, Western Cavpe, Limpopo and Gauteng who all said they will lobby for Sisulu.
