EC beauties shine at SA Junior pageant

A bunch of young beauties have made the Eastern Cape proud at a Miss Junior South Africa Pageant.

The competition, which has a number of categories, was held in Pretoria this past weekend.

Indiphile Qwesha, 12, of Kidd’s Beach walked away with the Miss Face of SA first prize, Miss SA Mini Teen Photo Model first prize and the Miss Face of EC.

She also made it to the top five all-round Miss Junior SA, qualifying for the Miss Universe title to be held in Turkey later this year.

Indiphile, a Kidd’s Beach Primary School Grade 7 pupil, was humbled by the opportunity to participate.

She was eager to get back to do more community work. “I enjoy engaging with my peers in the community, motivating them, speaking to them about peer pressure and the dangers of drug abuse,” she said.

The socially aware and all-round talented pupil hopes to work hard enough to win the Junior Miss Universe title in Turkey.

Amahla Qomfo, 10, of Gonubie Christian School, won first princess for Miss Face of SA Pre-Teen division. Her community work is to support children living with congenital heart defects.

She also collects new toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to distribute to those in cardiac wards at Frere and Cecilia Makiwane Hospital.

Sinebango Cetywayo, 10, of Beaconhurst Primary school won the Miss Pre-Teen EC title and the Public Choice award for the most likes on her campaign picture. Sinebango enjoys helping and supporting children from vulnerable homes.

She often visits paediatric wards to play with hospitalised children and to donate clothes and treats. — gugup@diapatch.co.za
