Just weeks after committing to adding new features at Mthatha Stadium, the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has to spend more money fixing the stadium’s ticket office, taps and windows after they were vandalised recently.

KSD and OR Tambo district municipality have allocated R2-million for the construction of a venue operations centre, which will house security personnel during matches and a tunnel for the protection of players and game officials when they walk into the stadium.

Despite the investment, the local authority has to fork out more money to fix brass window handles and taps that have been yanked off by vandals in the past few weeks.
