A TROUBLED Buffalo City Metro ward councillor’s house was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning – and arson is suspected.
Councillor Gideon Norexe of ward 45 and his family survived the fire, which is possibly linked to recent service delivery protests in the ward.
“We have been servicing that community and the issues they brought forward are being attended to.
“There is only one thing we don’t agree about and will never agree with and that is illegal invasion.”
But despite allegations that residents were responsible for the fire, people distanced themselves from the crime.
Norexe is currently under investigation over allegations that he breached the code of conduct of councillors. — mamelag@dispatch.co.za
