ABC Motsepe League defending champions Angavu Stars are not scared of title contenders Tornado ahead of their much-anticipated encounter tonight at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

This is the bold statement from Angavu boss, Kenny Tofi who added that his club was well on course to defend their crown.

The ever flamboyant Tofi continued by declaring that come the end of the season, Angavu will not only top the Eastern Cape league but will go on to conquer in the national playoffs, paving the way for an NFD status.

Angavu’s collision with Tornado promises to have sparks flying all over if their position on the log is anything to go by.

The former is currently third, one spot below the latter and they are separated only by three points.

Both have played 12 games, one less than most of the other teams as Tornado have raked in 25 points while Angavu are on 23.

If Angavu win today, they will go up to position two as Tornado drop to replace them at third spot.

Coming into the game, Angavu are high-flyers because the last time they lost a game was last November.

Since their last loss, they have achieved a nine-match unbeaten run with seven victories and two draws.

Their foes, on the other hand have seen their January form drop in February having suffered two losses, a draw and a win in their previous four matches which include the Nedbank Cup thumping by Orlando Pirates.

Tofi is confident that today is the day to inflict more pain on the Mdantsane outfit.

“We are not scared of Tornado that is what I should tell you outright,” said the outspoken Tofi.

“They might be motivated by their recent achievement such as representing our province in the Nedbank Cup but we draw strength from our start to this campaign which was not one of the best.

“Our record since losing the first three games of the season speaks for itself and I can assure you no one, including Tornado will stop us as we march towards defending our title because come end of the season Angavu will be declared the champions of the 2014-15 campaign.”

Tofi’s counterpart at Tornado, “Mawawa” Nyobo was unfazed by the confident talk emanating from the opposition camp reminding them the game was like any other league match. According to Nyobo, collecting maximum points in home games was their only mission, regardless of who their opponents are.

“For us it is not important who we are playing, what is priority is collecting three points and that is all,” said a chilled Nyobo.

“Yes the boys are tired following the many games we played in January in a short space of time but in this league that is not an excuse, especially for people with a mission to win the league like us.”

Elsewhere tonight, Highbury FC welcome Mthatha City at the Cold Stream Stadium in Koukamma while tomorrow FC Buffalo travel to Matatiele to collide with La Liga.

Fourth-placed FC Elliot, humiliated 4-0 by Angavu last weekend, host Morning Stars FC at the Elliot High School Sport Grounds, also tomorrow.

A bottom-of-the-log clash between Cacadu United and Tembu Royals will take place at Ebhongweni High School in Alexandria tomorrow afternoon.

The winless United are likely to register their first victory courtesy of home turf advantage against the chaotic Royals.

Matta Milan tackle Kokstad Liverpool FC and Real City welcome Zimbane Killers. Undefeated log-leaders Mthatha Bucks FC are home to Swartkops Valley United Brothers.
