Tuks’ Mosadi says he’s back to ‘100% fit’

As a winger‚ University of Pretoria’s Thabo Mosadi believes he should be getting on the score sheet a lot more than he currently does.

Wingers these days are contributing much more than just crosses into the box‚ as shown by the likes of Daine Klate and Danny Venter‚ who get into good areas and score goals.

Mosadi bagged his first goal of the season when Tuks hammered Chippa United 3-0 on Saturday to earn coach Shaun Bartlett his first victory since joining the Tshwane club in January.

Willem Mwedihanga and Getaneh Kebede were also on the score sheet for Tuks‚ who stayed in 15th place but moved to within a point of the club a place above them‚ Jomo Cosmos.

“It was a great feeling to score. Throughout the game‚ even when I was on the bench‚ I told my teammates that I would score‚” said Mosadi‚ who came on just after the hour mark at the weekend.

“It was an open game because both teams wanted points. We played more as a team and we all wanted it so badly. We needed the feeling of being victorious again.

“The last time I was scored was last season. As a player‚ especially an attacking player‚ you should be on the score sheet more. I was out for the first three months of the season because of injury and I have not been at my best since coming back. But there is nothing holding me back now. I am 100% fit.”

Having a former Bafana Bafana striker as a coach is one of the reasons Mosadi is eager to find the back of net regularly.

“The coach has been emphasising everyday that if a left winger crosses the ball‚ then I should get myself into the box. And if I have the ball on the right wing‚ then the left winger should get into the box and try to score. Having him in the team helps us. He tells us to be confident and to express ourselves and the results will come.”

Having struggled for most of the season to get points‚ Mosadi has now urged his teammates to finish the season off strongly.

“Everyone was happy after the win. It’s been a while that we got a win like that. We have nine matches left‚ which means we have 27 points to play for. I am sure we can still finish in the top eight. It’s still possible.”
