Seven tough weeks will decide battling Bucks’ fate

Mthatha Bucks have seven weekends left in which their fate will be decided in the National First Division (NFD).

The Mthatha outfit, 14th on the NFD log with 18 points will not have it easy in their remaining matches as they play opponents as desperate as they are for maximum points, either to avoid relegation or to compete for the title.

First in line is Milano United, fourth on the table who are visiting Mthatha Stadium tomorrow. Milano, if they win, have the potential of jumping to second place.

Bucks, on the other side, need three points to remain out of the bottom two spots to avoid the chop. After a two-week long break, they should have had enough time to polish their tactics, especially up front where they have been firing blanks.

The break also afforded the likes of the experienced David Radebe, who recently joined the club, to adapt as they will have to raise their hands and lead during these desperate times.

This month alone, Bucks have four matches lined up week after week with three at home and one on the road.

Anything less than at least seven points out of the possible 12 will not bode well for their survival in the second tier.

The concern though is that Amathol’amnyama have not been doing well at home where they mostly play to draws.

After the Milano meeting, Bucks will be on the road to Black Leopards before two back-to- back home fixtures against FC Cape Town and Cape Town All Stars later this month.
