Port Elizabeth Premier Soccer League side Chippa United have returned to the grindstone in preparation for the upcoming season.

With the departure of influential midfielder and team captain Thamsanqa Sangweni confirmed, the club has already started conducting trials in search of a possible replacement.

Chippa will draw comfort from the arrival of experienced player Kurt Lentjies of Maritzburg United. The club is also said to have signed Baroka star Tshepiso Lietsisa.

“The players and technical team are back and are preparing for the upcoming season,” said Chippa’s communication and marketing manager Luthando Zibeko.

“There were players here for trials who the technical team have been looking at. So, I think in the next couple of days they are going to step up the preparations and the team will be leaving for a two-week long camp in Durban this weekend.

“The mood in camp has been high. The guys are working hard, everyone at the office is working hard and we are all excited about the upcoming season.”

Zibeko said there were some changes in the club in terms of playing staff but would not elaborate any further. He said all would be revealed when the team return from Durban.
