Former Mthatha Bucks midfielder Luyolo Nomandela wants to add value to his new side – the ABC Motsepe League log-leaders – as they head to the playoffs with the hope to gain promotion to the National First Division.

A woman and two hitmen she hired to kill her husband have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Mthatha High Court sitting in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape.

Nomandela, who was released by Bucks in the second round of the 2017-18 NFD season following a disciplinary process at the club, said he had found a new home at the Mdantsane-based outfit.

“I’m thankful the club gave me the opportunity to play because football is my life, and I’m excited to be part of such a team. And I want to help the club gain promotion ...

“But most importantly – I want to be part of the team that promoted a club in our province because many people stand a chance of benefiting from our promotion,” he said.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns winger said he had always believed Tornado could conquer the third-tier league because of the talented players and coaching staff the club boasted.

Last week, the former Bafana Bafana international made his debut at the Mdantsane-based outfit against the former champions EC Bees, who were coming off a stunning performance against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup.

“I want to use my experience in top-flight football to achieve greater things with this club because the team has come this far.

“My first game was alright – thanks to my strong coach, Tshepo Motsoeneng. I’ve played with him before at Free State Stars, so we know each other very well.

“But if my fitness levels are not where he wants them to be, we’ll take it easy until I’m fit enough for the playoffs.”

Motsoeneng said he decided to play Nomandela against the Bees because he felt he was ready.
