FORGET about whether or not contractors will finish the Gonubie Main Road within the contract period – landowners in dispute with Buffalo City Metro say until they are paid for their land, they will not allow it to be used even when finished.
The landowners, who previously agreed not to interfere in construction following a heated stand-off which ended in court, have written to BCM’s lawyers warning that the issue has been dragging on unnecessarily.
They say in a letter sent by their lawyers that “certain of the landowners will not allow the road to be used until such time as the issue of compensation has been – and they are paid in full.
