A school going Ngcobo trainee sangoma has been suspended at her Nyanga High hostel for practising rituals including burning of dagga and impepho (incense), and healing a fellow pupil.
The punishment of the 16-year-old Grade 11 pupil has sparked outrage among traditionalists and traditional healers, who label the suspension as discrimination against the values and beliefs entrenched in African religion.
