Grab the digital space, young professionals told

Young professionals stand a better chance of thriving in the digital working environment than their bosses and should grab the opportunities with optimism.
This was the message from communication minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams at a dialogue on the role of young professionals in the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), hosted by Siviwe Mditshwa at the East London ICC on Saturday.
“The fourth industrial revolution presents countless opportunities that, when grabbed with optimism, can change our lives for the better.
“As a young professional, you have a unique advantage as the 4IR is unfolding right before your eyes. You have experienced the evolution of 4IR and quite frankly, you are in a better position than your supervisor to thrive in this digital environment,” Ndabeni-Abrahams said.
She used the opportunity to announce that in partnership with some stakeholders, she would host an inaugural Digital Economy Summit on April 11-12 which is aimed at directing South Africa’s digital economy towards the 4IR.
“Our objective in convening this summit is to provide a platform to gear stakeholders towards exploiting opportunities presented by the 4IR.
“I further invite young people to participate in the summit and ensure that the voice of young people is heard,” she said.
