Two King William’s Town men were on Monday arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after a vehicle they were travelling in was found with 284 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R17,000.

Police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa said the two, aged 26 and 29, were arrested while parked at a local taxi rank after police had received a tip-off.

“On arrival they spotted the vehicle and searched it. They then recovered 28 match boxes with 10 tablets in each, plus one match box with four and a half boss tablets to the street value of more than R17,000,” said Mawisa, adding that, an undisclosed amount of cash was also confiscated by police. These two suspects will appear in court on Tuesday.
