Police are offering a R50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who raped a Qunu clergywoman.

The woman, of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, was raped on church premises on November 16.

In a statement, police spokesperson Capt Khaya Tonjeni said the R50,000 would go to anyone with information that resulted in the arrest, successful prosecution and conviction of the suspect.

Tonjeni said intensive investigations had been undertaken, but with no results.

“Anyone with information can contact the investigating officers, Capt Zwelonke Isaac Nomanjila at 082-697-5920, or Lt-Col Mfana Mqina at 079-496-4803. All information will be treated with strict confidentiality.”

At the time the pastor, 45, told the Dispatch her assailant reeked of alcohol.

She said he had to have been someone who knew she would be alone that night. She did not see his face.

She was also robbed of R500.

She is still attending therapy sessions.
