Christmas arrived early for Cambridge resident and stay-at-home mom, Bronwyn Seddom, 46, as her entry form was selected as the winner of the annual Cash Mania competition, beating thousands of Daily Dispatch  readers who tried their luck in winning the R50,000.

“I thought I was being prank called when I received the phone call last week. I could not believe that I had finally won something, as I have entered competitions for many years without any luck.”

The excited mother of one lives with her husband, Richard, who is the breadwinner, and her six-year-old daughter.

“Previously, I entered competitions to win a car for my elderly parents.

“This prize is going to make a huge difference in our lives, as I will be able to help my husband with some expenses and also prepare my daughter who will be starting big school, as she starts grade 1 next year.”

The annual Cash Mania competition ran for six weeks, from August 14 until September 26.

Daily Dispatch marketing manager Jennilee Peremore-Oliver said they had received more than 1,000 entries.

We are delighted with the response to the Cash Mania competition and we feel privileged that we were able to give this opportunity to our readers where 20 readers each won R2,500 and Bronwyn receives a cash prize of R50,000.”

“We aim to create positive experiences for our readers by hosting competitions like these. We try to do it at least twice a year.”

Seddom said: “I have been at home for three years with no income so I was aiming to win the R2,500.

“We have had a difficult year as a family; this prize will make a tremendous difference to our lives. We are truly grateful to the Dispatch for changing our lives.”

She said her six-year-old daughter, Robin, made sure that her grandparents cut out the entries to assist Seddom in entering as many as she could.

“I think I entered more than 20 times. I am going to help out wherever I can; my husband is as excited as I am.”

Entries came from across the province, from East London, Qonce, Mthatha, Komani and Mdantsane.

Peremore-Oliver said: “This Saturday, October 9  we are launching our annual Win-A-Car competition in partnership with Ronnies Motors where one lucky reader stands the chance of winning a new seven-seater Suzuki Ertiga 1.5 GA. Entry forms will be published in the Daily Dispatch daily from October 9 until 21 November.”
