Lira’s show overwhelms her EL supporters

Soul singer Lira had the crowd begging for more during a live performance at The Venue@Hemingways at the weekend. Her sassy attitude, dance moves and soulful music enthralled young and old in the packed venue.

Performing in the city as part of the Her Story tour, Lira took her supporters down memory lane from when she first made her debut.

She performed all the songs from her albums All my Love, Feel Good, Soul in Mind, Return to Love, Lira live in Concert: A Celebration and Rise Again.

In between songs, Lira shared some of her personal stories and also gave some relationship advice, which was well-received by the mainly female crowd.

She also encouraged people to follow their dreams and not allow other people to discourage them.

Lira left her job as an accountant to pursue music, a move she says fulfills her.

“I am not saying people must quit their jobs but you must make time for your passion. We all have gifts waiting for us to use,” she said.

Members of the audience were impressed by the diva’s ability to keep the audience captivated.

“I thoroughly enjoyed her show. It was an evening well spent. I love that she addressed relationship and social issues,” said Luzuko Sejosing.

Lerato Pholo said: “The show was energising, motivational and entertaining. But it was too short.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed it but it ended too soon. It was well received especially considering how East London people don’t like going out,” said Thando Vusani.

Another supporter, Sisipho Nyangwa said she had always heard that Lira was a great performer and was pleased to see her live.

“It was great to see her live show. Some of the things she spoke about challenged and inspired me. I got my monies’ worth and more.”

Those who attended the show also received her latest DVD and CD, First Decade Concert Film for free. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
