Black Coffee opens up about the harder side of parenting

Black Coffee’s eldest son‚ Esona‚ has embarked on a 23-day journey with his school‚ and the DJ has spoken out about the challenges of parenting.

Taking to Instagram‚ the DJ shared that although the trip — which involved camping‚ walking and cycling all the way to Carolina — was an exciting idea at first‚ he began to feel a bit anxious when he received the first letter from Esona‚ who was not allowed his cellphone as part of the rules of the trip.

“Besides the fact that we dearly missed him his first letter in the first week expressing how hard it was and how he couldn’t take it got me thinking I made a bad decision as a father of allowing him to go‚” he wrote.

Black Coffee says he decided to stick by his decision. “I encouraged him as best as I could to take it in and learn as much as he can...even though I knew he was having it hard....young man has never been alone like that....he can hardly do anything for himself let alone pitch a tent...”

However‚ the award-winning record producer said he found comfort in Esona’s second letter‚ in which he claims to be “coping missing home and all the little things he took for granted.” — Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment
