An old building was burnt down in Keiskammahoek as residents continued their service delivery protest this afternoon.

An old building has been set alight as service delivery protests continue in Keiskammahoek. Pucture: ZOLILE MENZELWAThe building, which was initially an ANC constituency office but later used to house government departments over the years, went up in flames.

Last night a municipal building graders and where other implements were kept was torched.

Leaders of the South African National Civic Organisation, which are instrumental in the protest, are locked in a meeting this afternoon.

Among other things, residents are demanding a road from Middledrift to Keiskammahoek, provision of scholar transport, a fire station closer to the small town and a new hospital.

Earlier today, Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle has condemned destruction of property during the ongoing Keiskammahoek protests.
