EFF sceptical of Presidency’s ‘public stunt’ on Marikana compensation

“Until compensation is done‚ no one‚ including the workers must trust or believe the African NationalCongress (ANC) government.”

That’s how the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) reacted on Wednesday to President “Jacob Zuma’s announcement that they will be entering talks with those affected by the Marikana massacre on how best the state can compensate them”.

“In fact‚ the Presidency is subjecting them to multiple emotional massacres‚ because in September when it issued a similar statement‚ the workers told them that they should communicate with their legal representatives.”

The Presidency’s statement on Tuesday made mention of the September announcement‚ saying it said “government is exploring initiating an alternative dispute process to expedite the processing of all claims arising from the tragic incidents of August 2012”.

“However‚ for the second time‚ the Presidency chooses to use the media without any communication with the workers‚” said of the follow-up announcement.

“The ANC murderous government cannot be trusted because it rewards murderous politicians who participated in the massacre with cabinet posts‚” Ndlozi said.
