Adekeye Adebajo is the director of the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation at the University of Johannesburg. He was executive director of the Centre for Conflict Resolution in Cape Town between 2003 and 2016. He served on United Nations missions in South Africa, Western Sahara and Iraq, and was director of the Africa Programme at the International Peace Institute in New York. He is the author of five books: Building Peace in West Africa; Liberia’s Civil War; The Curse of Berlin: Africa After the Cold War; UN Peacekeeping in Africa; and Thabo Mbeki: Africa’s Philosopher-King. He is co-editor or editor of eight books, on managing global conflicts, the United Nations, the European Union, West African security, South Africa’s and Nigeria’s foreign policies in Africa, and Nobel peace laureates of African descent. He obtained his doctorate from Oxford University in England, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
