Church service carries on amid sex row

WORSHIPPING continued uninterrupted yesterday in the Duncan Village-based Power of the Cross Church, a day after allegations of illicit sex between the pastor and his women congregates were published in the Saturday Dispatch.

Church began as normal at 9am and by noon there were about 800 people in attendance.

Earlier on during the sermon, the church leader had read out an SMS message saying it came from Ntiwane. In it, Ntiwane had apologised for being absent from the church but also reminded his congregates that he loved them. The message ended with two biblical verses which were then read out to the congregation.

Lead singer in the church and well-known local gospel singer Ruth Nongogo briefly touched on the sex scandal subject, saying Ntiwane was being persecuted just like Lazarus in the Bible.

She reminded the congregants that they were following God and not man, before rendering a music item. — zwangam@dispatch.co.za
