Five people died this morning after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck on the N5 near Bethlehem in the Free State.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the truck and light motor vehicle in the right-hand lane of the road. Both vehicles were on fire.
According to ER24‚ fire services battled for some time to extinguish the blaze.
Once the fire was put out‚ paramedics discovered the burned bodies of three men and two women trapped inside the light motor vehicle.
The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
The cause of the collision is not yet known.
