Trevor Noah roasts Hillary Clinton over ‘coloured people time’ joke

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah recently grilled Hillary Clinton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasion for their “coloured people time” joke‚ at the Inner Circle Group’s annual sketch show last week.

The comedy sketch involved Clinton chastising de Blasio for taking too long to endorse her. He claimed that he was just running on “coloured people time.”

In response to groans from the crowd‚ Clinton translated his comment instead as the innocuous “cautious politician time.”

“I get it‚” Noah responded to a video of the sketch show. “The joke is Bill de Blasio saying he’s late like black people always are‚ and Hillary’s saying she doesn’t want to be president.”

“You know you’re not a good joke-teller‚ and you’re in the midst of a controversy involving comments made about black people. And still you choose to make that joke? That’s like if the governor of Michigan was going around Flint telling water jokes.”

Though the South African-born comedian claims that Clint and De Basio aren’t racist‚ he explains that they “got too comfortable.”

“Let me explain this in a way white people will understand‚” Noah said.

“Race jokes are kind of like orcas. Powerful and entertaining‚ but you put them on display in the wrong environment‚ and people are going to get hurt. And the joke might die.”
