Woman held for boyfriend’s murder

A Butterworth woman has been arrested for the murder of her boyfriend after they argued because she had not cooked.

The couple came home to their shack at Skiet informal settlement on Friday at 10pm.

The 35-year-old boyfriend then demanded food from his partner and a fight erupted when she said she had not cooked.

During the quarrel, the woman drew a knife and stabbed the boyfriend in his upper body. The boyfriend, who cannot be named until his next of kin have been informed, died on the scene.

The woman will appear in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court today.

l Two suspects, aged 23 and 63, were arrested at Lengeni location near Ndabakazi village and at Cegcuwana village Butterworth.

The 63-year-old was allegedly found to have planted 24 dagga plants with a street value of R3000, while the 23-year-old was allegedly found in possession of loose dagga and 65 sachets of tik with a street value of R2500.

They have been charged with possession of dagga plants and possession of drugs and will appear in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court today.

l Mxolisi Magwa, 49, has been sentenced in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court to 20 years’ imprisonment for the rape of an eight-year-old girl.

The girl went missing in December 2014 from Ntlabane Village in Willowvale. Community members found her being raped by Magwa at his home.
