Four poachers flee as cops bust abalone hotbed

The Hawks have raided an illegal abalone (perlemoen) processing operation in a rambling Nahoon Valley home in East London.

Four suspects fled the highwalled double-storey house set back against the bush, but the Hawks did arrest a 48-year-old Malaysian man found sitting behind the wheel of a white BMW, said Hawks spokeswoman Captain Anelisa Feni.
