The matter involving eight Reeston residents accused of murder, arson and malicious damage to property was postponed again in the East London Magistrate's Court today for further investigation.

The accused -- Siziwe Daniso, Vuyokazi Maphukatha, Nomfuneko Majingane, Nosicelo Wewe, Nomvuyo Qeve, Zwelixolile Nkohla, Phelisa Vakele and Phelisa Shotane -- appeared before magistrate Rochelle Sam.

They were released on R500 bail last month after they were arrested for allegedly torching two RDP houses and three vehicles belonging to 54-year-old Buffalo City Metro ANC Ward 13 councillor Nokulunga Matiwane last month. Matiwane's 23-year-old daughter, Nonkululeko Matiwane, who was disabled, died trapped in one of the houses.

Prosecutor Nomawethu Madolwana told the magistrate the state was still waiting for crime scene pictures taken by police investigators and additional statements obtained from witnesses for the purpose of preparing for trial. Madolwana requested that the court grant the state a month-long postponement for the investigation to be finalised.

The request was granted by Sam who postponed the matter to November 17.
