Cops auction recovered stolen goods

Stolen goods worth thousands of rands will be auctioned off by the East London police tomorrow.

The appliances will go under the hammer at 6 Church Street behind the East London Magistrate’s Court tomorrow from 10am.

The goods have been collecting dust as their rightful owners have not come forward to claim them.

Those at the auction who recognise their stolen goods could still have a chance to claim their property – on condition that they produce the original slip of the purchase.

Police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala said: “They can claim if they have the relevant documents that will prove the item belongs to him or her.”

lThree armed thugs attacked an off-duty police officer while he was fishing at Nahoon River yesterday.

The officer shot one of the attackers in the leg and arrested him. Mdantsane police spokesman Captain Nkosikho Mzuku said the injured youth, 20, was due to appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of attempted robbery.
