Eskom employees protesting outside the power utilities Beacon Bay office in East London have vowed to continue with their protest until their demands of a salary increase are met.

Shopsteward Lawrence Ngendane said employees were refusing the 0% salary increment offered by their employer. “We fail to understand why they are giving us 0%.  This has never happened at Eskom that we do not get an increase and they want us to believe that the company does not have money.”

Meanwhile, the company has remained firm on its decision not to offer salary increase to the employers.  Spokesman Zama Mpondwana said in a statement that contingency plans have been made to ensure security of power supply.
