Second-chance matrics burn down school office

Angry second-chance matric candidates at Ndaliso Senior Secondary School in Lusikisiki allegedly torched the school's administration block on Wednesday morning in protest over the set-up of their exams.
According to the Department of Basic Education, second chance candidates are given multiple exam opportunities to write their exams over two years.
However the 232 pupils at the school on Tuesday refused to write their exams over two years and demanded to write all their exams in the current season.
The action by the pupils resulted in exams being withdrawn on Tuesday and Wednesday's exams were also disrupted.
The department's spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima said the admin block was torched at around 6am.
Police have been called to monitor the tense situation at the school, while officials from the department are locked in a meeting where they hope to come up with a solution...
