A man died after the car he was driving overturned on the N2 near Kwelera on Thursday morning.
A female passenger sustained severe injuries. According to department of transport spokesman Unathi Binqose, the VW Jetta was travelling from Butterworth when the accident happened just before 5.30am.
"The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. The driver was declared dead on the scene while his passenger sustained critical injuries and was taken to Frere Hospital for further medical attention."
Binqose said wet slippery roads were suspected to have caused the accident. "Road users are urged to be cautious when roads are wet. A case of culpable homicide will be opened at Bluewater police station for further investigation."..
